American College of Surgeons
The ATLS ® (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Course has been developed by the Trauma Committee of the American College of Surgeons with the objective of training the doctor to evaluate and resuscitate the patient with multiple trauma efficiently and quickly during the first hour of his, define whether your resources will be sufficient to manage the patient or it will be necessary to refer him to a higher level of care, and stabilize and refer him correctly. It also teaches the basics of triage in cases of a single traumatized patient and in disasters with multiple injuries.
At Punta Mita Hospital, all of our doctors are certified in ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support).
The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

NAEMT Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized worldwide as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in the management of trauma patients by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides medical direction and oversight of the content of the PHTLS program.
PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality. The program is based on a philosophy that emphasizes treating the multisystem trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as a foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, with a good foundation of knowledge and key principles, EMS professionals are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care.
